To develop interactive VR training simulations to allow people who are suffering social isolation to experience different locations

by Community IT Services CIC in Norwich, England, United Kingdom

We have developed a number of prototype virtual reality (VR) training simulations with the hostage survival and healthcare sector. We develop this simulations using 360 degree video and this provides the wearer with a much more realistic experience.

The plan is to develop VR walkthroughs of various locations, initially within the Norwich area, to assist people who suffer from social isolation and social anxieties. The VR walkthroughs will allow them to experience and interact with the location that they are interested in visiting before they go there. It is hoped that this will reduce their stress as they will have gained an understanding of what to expect.

The VR app will run on a mobile smartphone using a Google Cardboard VR headset, making this accesible and cost effective.
