During Covid19 we continue supporting children & young people.
The pandemic can bring back difficult feelings for those bereaved, with deaths experienced in social isolation harder, unable to say goodbye & many unexpected.
Our peer mentor said “Lock-down allows your mind to wander. It’s normal to think about those we’ve lost & worry about losing more, but it’s scary to think this with no-one to help.” We will use funds to continue our work & ensure service can continue after the pandemic.
At Wiltshire Treehouse we continue to provide support to children, young people and their families during the lock-down, whilst preparing to resume our group work support once lifted. Using phone and virtual support for individuals, we have also developed free resources for families and training for professionals working with families, providing them with the techniques to help manage grief during such troubling times.
We bring the bereaved community together, learning from shared experience to develop emotional understanding and build coping strategies that can support them throughout life.
The affects of Covid-19 on our emotions are currently unknown, with increased deaths, constant media coverage and a nation in fear, we know that our services are needed now and for the years to follow as the emotional scars are realised.
